Frequently Asked Questions:
What happens if I miss a day?
If a day is missed, you are able to make the day of lessons up. Make up days start AFTER the Consecutive Week Programs are complete the last weekend in February. You will need to contact the Mt. Hood Meadows ski school the day before to make a reservation for your child.
What if I forget my lift ticket/lesson pass?
If a pass is forgotten, the mountain can issue a new one, but it takes time. Chaperones collect all passes at the end of the day, but if for some reason this does not happen, we suggest leaving the pass in the left chest pocket of the jacket in which you plan to ski.
How much is just the bus ride?
The price changes each year. If you purchase a 4 week bus pass the total is $95. If you purchase as a "Walk On" the price is $30 per week.
Is lunch included?
Lunch is not included. A "lunch buffet" is available for purchase for SnoBlasters only. There is fast food at the mountain for purchase but the lines are long. Make sure you pack plenty of snacks and a large bottle of water.
Do I have to buy a lift ticket if my child is a beginner?
Yes, although they may not get on the lift the 1st week, they will for sure ride the lift at some point within the 4 consecutive weeks. Make sure to add the lift ticket to the package you purchase when signing up.
What if my child leaves gear at the mountain?
If your child leaves gear on the mountain week 1 - 3, Meadows will hold on to it and your child can get their gear when they return. If your child leaves gear at the mountain on week 4, you will need to call the mountain to make arrangements to retrieve the gear. Please make sure to label all items with your child's name.
What happens if my child gets injured on the mountain?
If your child gets injured, ski patrol takes them to the Providence Mountain Emergency Services center located at the base of Mt Hood Meadows ski resort. There they will have the Providence Mountain Emergency Services Consent to Treat Form you filled out. They will notify your child's chaperone so they can be with them and will notify you also.
What kind of movies do you show on the bus ride?
We will only show rated G or PG movies. Let us know if you have any concerns.
What time is pick up and drop off?
We try to leave the parking lot at 6:20. We ask that you arrive at 6:10 so we can check you in and distribute lift tickets. It is important to leave on time because there is often traffic getting up to the mountain and the bus driver must stop to put on chains. We want to make sure everyone gets to their lesson on time. We arrive back home anywhere from 5:30 to 8pm. It depends on road conditions and unforeseen events such as broken chains and extreme traffic jams.
Is my child supervised while on the mountain?
SnoBlasters (grades 1-5) are supervised 100% of the time. They are checked in to the SnoBlaster room by their chaperone and are escorted to the bathroom and their lessons by a staff member. They eat lunch in the SnoBlaster room and are picked up by their chaperone at the end of the day and escorted back to the bus. Adults must have a special wristband to enter this room. Trailblazers and High Schoolers are not supervised although their chaperone keeps tabs on their whereabouts and will check in with them at lunch. We count everyone on the bus before we leave the mountain.
My child wants to be in lessons with their friends, can you make that happen?
We do our best to make sure kids are with their friends in their lesson but ultimately it is up to the instructor to place them appropriately based on the student's skill and experience. We don't have control over where they are placed although we do make recommendations on the first day.
How is Trailblazers different from SnoBlasters?
Trailblazers is specifically for middle schoolers and has less supervision and does not require a full day lesson. Trailblazers can sign up for either a morning or afternoon lesson and then ski/ride on their own when not in lessons. Morning lessons are generally for beginners and novice and afternoon lessons are for green, blue and black levels. Further, Trailblazers eat lunch on their own in a place of their choosing although we encourage them to eat in the same area chaperones do. Chaperones do keep tabs on them, help them with rentals on the first day and encourage them to get to their lessons on time.
